History of Brantley Crossing/Switch Community

Brantley Crossing/Switch [also known as Kyser] is located at the crossroads of County Roads 20 and 15. In the 19th century, this place was called Kyser. On a 1937 map of the county, it is still listed as Kyser. A school by the name of Brantley Switch was located here as early as 1910. The name Brantley Crossing or Brantley Switch became associated with this place when the Alger-Sullivan Lumber Company began logging in the area in 1901. Their railroad lines snaked throughout almost every section in this part of the county. This crossroads was a hub for their railroads and lines branched out in every direction from here.

Today, there is a modern store here, Your Bait and Trophy Shop, owned by Jerry and Gail Springer, and several homes.
