William Leander Witherington ~ 1858 Land Acquistions

It appears from researching land records (BLM - Greenville Land Office) that both Daniel E. Witherington and his son, William Leander, took land in 1858 in Conecuh County, Alabama. Combined, their land holdings were over 472 acres. (Note: Daniel died shortly thereafter, in 1860.)

Daniel's land was in Section 6, Township 6N, Range 11E.

William Leander's land was nearby in Section 31, Township 6N, Range 11E and is the location of today's Witherington Plantation Home.

It is unknown at this time if Daniel's land was passed to William Leander after Daniel's death in 1860 (only two years after these recordings of 1858).
