William Cicero Deloney CSA Soldier |
William Cicero Deloney fought in the Civil War and was wounded and was thought to be dead. He was going to be buried until someone noticed him move slightly. He recovered and fathered the Deloney clan. He was a private in the 17th Alabama Infantry, Company K. He was sent home in 1864, on account of Brain Fever, and was never able to return.
William Cicero Deloney filed for a pension for the relief of confederate soldiers and sailors in 1915 when he was 70. He was not able to work at that time. His estate consisted of 40 acres. There is now a Confederate Veteran grave marker at the grave site in Buffington Cemetery.
