"William Edward Ellis, Sheriff of Conecuh County in 1837 and again in 1844, lived in the northwest area of Loree (NW 1/4, Section 17, Township 6 North, Range 10E). He also served as a Trustee of the Burnt Corn Academy in 1841"

"William Edward Ellis born 12/12/1799, Edgefield Dist., SC and died 11/23/1862 in Conecuh Co, AL. He married Emily Ann Nored from Edgefield, SC. She was born 12/20/1809 and died 08/17/1886 in Conecuh County."
