John Hugh ("Jehue") Ross
John Hugh ( Jehue) Ross of Conecuh County, Alabama, husband of Martha Griffin, was a member of Capt. Canton's Company Light Artillery, enlisted August 22, 1863 in Monroe County, Alabama by L. D. Steel. Last paid by Capt. A. McVay on October 31, 1863, and was listed on the company muster roll until December 31, 1863, was absent sick in the Greenville Hospital at that time. John's wife Martha had twin sons born in January 1864, while she was in bed from having the twins news of his death came to her and her family.
