History of the W.B. Ivery Residence
This home was changed in the 1950's and the top half was removed, the columns rearranged and it now is a one-story residence. However, the original design was by Frank Lockwood who designed the courthouse many eons ago. William Burnett Ivey was a partner in Taliaferro, McCreary & Ivey Gen'l Mchdse; served as Mayor of Evergreen; deacon in Baptist Church; member of Board of Trustees & Treasurer of Louise Short Orphans & Widows Home while it was located in Evergreen. He married Julia Daughdrill and their son was Charles Thaddeus and his son, William Wild Ivey now resides in the home with his family.
